EP-325 | Brigands | By Any Means Necessary
Thursday Jan 12, 2023
Thursday Jan 12, 2023
By Any Means Necessary is how these men live their lives daily. The word "BRIGAND"
is defined in the dictionary as a member of a gang that ambushes and robs people in forests and mountains, and it is known by many within special operations as something associated with the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Brothers Dylan and Connor Curtis are former U.S. Army Rangers from 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment who founded Brigands Co. and was later joined by RJ Casey, a U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret), Ranger, and USAF Pararescueman. Between the three of them, they have countless combat deployments to Afghanistan, Colombia, Iraq, Pakistan, the Philippines, Somalia, and Syria.
In this episode, we sit down with Dylan and RJ to not only discuss their incredible careers in the the Army and Air Forces within special operations, we get into what this company does as consultants to a wide array of areas, including medical support, personal recovery, training, film and television script consultation, military advisors, stunts, writers, and rescue safety coordinators on set.
RJ Casey has worked on multiple films, including the very popular Amazon Prime original, "Jack Ryan", the movie "Dunkirk", "The Dark Night Rises", "Inception", "Terminator Salvation", and "We Were Soldiers" to name a few.
Brigands Co. was founded as an outlet for a continued pursuit of excellence, and a way to use their experience across a range of industries. They live “service before self” and their motto is “by any means necessary”.

EP-324 | Patrick Kinsella, Ranger, Afghan Female Tactical Platoon (FTP)
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Patrick Kinsella spent 1 deployment in Iraq and 4 deployments to Afghanistan while serving with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. His time in SOF had him trained with K9s, and conducting nighttime raids on HVTs and Mi-17 crashes. But, he'll quickly share that some of his best time was as a contractor in Afghanistan where he trained the Afghanistan Female Tactical Platoon (FTP) who is tasked with supporting the Afghan Special Security Forces during counterterrorism operations, specializing in searches, interrogations, and medical assistance.
He came off of the Appalachian Trail to tape this episode and we discuss his time in and out of service and why being on the trail was so important.

Tuesday Nov 15, 2022
Tuesday Nov 15, 2022
Throughout Thomas Bryant's time in the Army, he has come to find his resiliency has taken him on a never-ending battle to be the best he can be when facing any new challenge.
In 2006, Bryant was wounded in an ambush during his first deployment to Afghanistan with this unit, the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He was sent to Germany where he would spend a year in the Warrior Transition Unit. There, it was found he had cancer for the second time, he said. His first time was when he was 19, but this time he was told it had moved up to his abdomen, lungs and pelvic area.

EP-316 | Trapped by Terrorists - Meyli Chapin
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
On January of 2019, Meyli Chapin was trapped in a hotel room in the DusitD2 in Nairobi for seventeen long hours while Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked the property. She was completely alone, and certain she was going to die. However, thanks to the incomprehensibly brave men who fought to get us out, led by now-retired UK SAS (Special Air Service) operator Christian Craighead, hundreds were extracted to safety. After the attack, though, PTSD made Meyli so miserable that she started to wish she had died after all. Aside from the terrorist attack itself, PTSD is the hardest thing she have ever dealt with in her life.
In this episode, we'll discuss her book which covers the in-depth retelling of the attack, combined with her personal journal entries about PTSD afterward. It's a true story about trauma. About how dark and ugly it can be. Because the unfortunate truth is: the vast majority of us will experience a traumatic event in our lives. "But when I was lying on the floor sobbing, unable to leave my apartment but also unable to sleep, wishing that I had died in that terrorist attack, I didn’t know that. I thought that I was uniquely traumatized, and uniquely weak. I could think of so many stories of incredible, resilient, practically superhuman people who had overcome all manner of horrible things. Why couldn’t I?"

EP-315 | Alan C. Mack - 160th SOAR
Monday Jul 25, 2022
Monday Jul 25, 2022
The call to adventure was persuasive, drawing Alan into the special operations community as an MH-47 pilot with the prestigious 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). Hard work and relentless training vaulted him to the top of his peer group as a Flight Lead and standardization instructor pilot. His experience and leadership traits put him at the forefront of several clandestine special operations, some still too classified to discuss in an open forum. The attacks of September 11, 2001, prompted the creation of a robust and deadly special operations force: Task Force Dagger. Alan C. Mack, Callsign Razor 03, led a team of MH-47E helicopters and armed MH-60s. We touch on this mission about the Horse Soldiers of 5th Special Forces Group Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) 595 where he provided aviation support, and a few other operations.
