EP-347 | Warrior Training Center - Fast Tracking
Somewhat unknown and hidden within Fort Moore (aka Fort Benning) is the Army National Guard's Warrior Training Center (WTC). The ARNG Warrior Training Center trains Service Members in critical functional skills, develops leaders, and represents the ARNG in order to increase the Federal and State operational readiness of the ARNG.
In this episode, we dive into the Ranger Training Assessment Course, a precursor for those who are wanting to attend Ranger School, with Cpl LeShane, an instructor and former student of the program. He provides all of the details of how to attend this course and how some have also returned to become instructors full-time.

EP-346 | A New Army Fitness Test?
Tuesday Sep 12, 2023

Army Fitness - Change is Coming: Will They Get it Right This Time?
Through the years, the U.S. Army has modified how it performs fitness and tests soldiers to succeed in combat. The Army Combat Fitness Test could change - again - if the Senate Armed Services Committee's markup of next year's defense budget is passed. The final version of the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act still needs to make its way through both chambers of Congress before being signed by the president.
The guys discuss this topic.

EP-344 | 75th Ranger Regiment Low Density MOS’
Tuesday Aug 15, 2023
Tuesday Aug 15, 2023
Within 75th Ranger Regiment there are many military occupational skills that are supporting roles known as "low density". Although many are within the Regimental Special Troops Battalion (RSTB) at Fort Moore (aka Ft. Benning), there are also opportunities to join units within each battalion. We sat down with six non-commissioned officers in the Darby Room of the 75th Ranger Regiment HQ.
RSTB provides the 75th Ranger Regiment and U.S. Army Special Operations Command with increased operational capabilities to sustained combat operations. RSTB conducts command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance functions in support of the 75th Ranger Regiment and other special operation task forces in order to enable the execution of joint special operations anywhere in the world. Additionally, RSTB provides qualified, trained and ready Rangers to sustain the Ranger Force.
The 75th Ranger Regiment is a lethal, agile and flexible force, capable of conducting many complex, joint special operations missions. Today's Ranger regiment is the Army's premier direct-action raid force. Each of the four geographically dispersed Ranger battalions is always combat ready, mentally and physically tough, and prepared to fight our country's adversaries. Their capabilities include conducting airborne and air assault operations, seizing key terrain such as airfields, destroying strategic facilities, and capturing or killing enemies of the nation. Rangers are capable of conducting squad through regimental-size operations and are resourced to maintain exceptional proficiency, experience and readiness. The regiment remains an all-volunteer force with an intensive screening and selection process followed by combat-focused training. The 75th Ranger Regiment is a proud unit and a team of teams - serving the nation.

You Can Sit Back or Be in Control
STOP: If you haven't watched "Overcoming Adversities & Getting on Track", please watch that episode first. This is Part 2 of our show with Sean.
Sean Jarvis is a retired sergeant major with the U.S. Army who served as a cavalry scout on multiple deployments and has had several assignments across his 26-year career, including the operations sergeant major for 1st Security Forces Assistant Brigade (1st SFAB).
Sean talks about a night that leads to a driving while intoxicated (DWI) and the set back it took on his career and mental state. Losing a good friend and mentor in combat took an additional toll on him. He knew he needed to get himself straight and he shares how he overcame these initial challenges by taking the tough love former leaders gave him and using it to get back on track. He then goes into the time when he realized, through those who cared about him, that he can either stay stuck in a rut, or do something about it by taking control of his life and his success.

EP-337 | Jeff Morris - Part 2
Tuesday May 30, 2023
Tuesday May 30, 2023
The Battle of Haifa Street was a battle fought during January 2007 for the control of Haifa Street, a two-mile-long street in downtown Baghdad, Iraq, pitting American and Iraqi Army forces against various Sunni insurgent forces between January 6 and January 9, 2007 (phase one), and then two weeks later on January 24 when US forces launched a second attempt to clear Haifa Street of insurgents once and for all. This battle was the precursor for clearing operations that would set the conditions for "the surge" which ultimately neutralized insurgent groups in this part of Baghdad during the spring and summer of 2007.
In Jeff Morris's book, "Legion Rising", he describes his time as a commander of a unit that is caught up in one of the fiercest firefights of the war, the battle of Haifa Street. He previously joined us in Episode 291 to share what happened during that battle where he lost 8 men during and then after due to their wounds. He shared that while looking in the mirror after the battle, "A burning sensation on my face caused me to pause. I leaned closer to my reflection and saw a gash, running across my cheek, under my right eye. I stood still for a moment, trying to imagine what could have caused the cut.
And then I realized.
The skin on my face had been torn by fragments of another man's skull. Fragments that were embedded into the flesh of my own hands."Episode 291: https://youtu.be/KLCEOcqXWXc
In this episode, Robert and Kyle sit down with Jeff to discuss more of the lighter side of war, when he met with President George W. Bush, when he fired an M1 tank at a target in war, and other stories.
