Combat veterans now have a place to go to reconnect with like minds and to assist them with the transition back to the private sector. Nick Hamm created the Warrior Built Foundation to honor the service and sacrifice of combat veterans and wounded service members who served our country by providing vocational and recreational opportunities. Vocational and recreational opportunities break through walls and foster an environment of healing, where great memories are born and new support systems are formed. Nick retired as a 1st Sgt in the USMC in 2015. He describes the challenges of leading a wounded warrior unit prior to his separation and how that along with the loss of his fiance started his passion for helping fellow veterans.

EP-90 | Margaret Smith | Army Officer | Running For Her Life
Monday Apr 24, 2017
Monday Apr 24, 2017
Imagine finding that you are genetically predisposed for the genetic mutation BRCA2. According to the National Cancer Institute, BRCA2 (Breast Cancer 2, Early Onset) is "a gene on chromosome 13 that normally helps to suppress cell growth. These proteins help repair damaged DNA and, therefore, play a role in ensuring the stability of the cell's genetic material. When either of these genes is mutated, or altered, such that its protein product either is not made or does not function correctly, DNA damage may not be repaired properly. As a result, cells are more likely to develop additional genetic alterations that can lead to cancer." When Maggie discovered she carried the BRCA2 gene, she took immediate action and began the run for her life. Hear how she reacted when faced with this life-threatening medical issue and how her husband helped her recover and find her new passion. She was quoted in the Army Times as saying "I want women to get tested…I want them to know there are others out there experiencing the same thing, others who have been through it," Smith said. "Men are carriers too -- get tested."

Sunday Apr 02, 2017
Sunday Apr 02, 2017
Too often we see companies who are not able to see the value that separating military bring to their organization. Bram and Robert discuss the values, ethos, skills, leadership, and other tangible benefits that veterans bring to any organization after their service. As veterans, you should consider the benefits you offer and learn how to package that into a resume as well as learn how to communicate it during an interview.
